Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer. Prevention is always better than cure so we have to do whatever we can to prevent this.
1. Sun Protection
Not only adults but kids also have to avoid too much exposure to the sun. Majority of the exposure happens before turning 18.
2. Stay away from sun during peak times
Sunlight is at strongest from morning to noon. According to experts the time from morning 10 am to afternoon 2 pm is the peak time and try to avoid going out or staying exposed to sun during these hours.
3. Use sunscreen
May seem like repeated advice, but its inevitable. SPF or Sun Protection factor can be seen in sunscreens. Use a brand with SPF 15 or more.
4. Reapply the sunscreen
If you plan to stay out whole day for whatever reason, reapply the sunscreen after two hours.
5. Wear clothes that are protective
Use sunglasses, a wide hat and wear clothes that protect you from too much exposure.
6. Check your skin
Regularly check your skin for any abnormalities or growth like moles. If you find any spot or change in colour, you might need to meet a dermatologist.
7. Seek help
Ask your partner or best buddy or any close family person you trust well to check your back and areas you cannot see yourself to find any skin issues.
8. Check up for your skin
A full body check up with a trusted dermatologist if you have too many moles or freckles or any family history of cancer is recommended once a year.
