Healthy eating habits can change your kid’s life. It will
prevent unwanted obesity and diseases leading to a healthy and happy life. Habits
are easy to develop in childhood so don’t miss out to develop healthy eating.
Only small minor changes in their diet like adding fruits, whole-grain food and
vegetables will change the eating habits. Limit snacks that are high in fat,
sugar and salty and allow to indulge occasionally. Low or non-fat dairy
products and fish, lean meat etc. will be good. Encourage them to have beans or
lentils for protein intake. Tell them to drink lots and lots of water. Beverages
with lots of sugar should also be controlled. If they can’t resist a certain
dish, it can be made healthier with a few changes in recipe.
Eating fruits should be encouraged. Colorful and tasty
fruits will be loved by kids. Apples, bananas, oranges all might be familiar to
kids from their drawing books. Make them physically active and tell them the
benefits like strong bones, less tension etc. Don’t complicate by telling
things they don’t understand. You can ask them to be strong like their favorite cartoon character. Everyday outdoor games or exercising like swimming
will prevent obesity. You can be an example yourself and your kids will feel
motivated. Playing football, skipping rope etc. are good activities. Set time limits
for games, home work, TV etc. Playing with your kids will also increase your
bonding and give happy times.
